PonyQuest

PonyQuest on GitHub!

Dev blog on tumblr!

PonyQuest is a Windows game engine thing that lets you play and create pony create adventures. When I say "adventures" I mean, like, "point-and-click adventure games," like Sam & Max Hit the Road, Maniac Mansion, and The Dig.

Why?

Because it will be awesome.

Seriously, you know you want to write your own interactive pony adventures full of your ridiculous fan characters gore and clop and what have you... right? Yeah, I thought so.

Have any demo videos?

Now I do!

This is a test of the scripting system. The scripts used in this video can be found here.

Got any concept art?

Sure do!

a super well-drawn pony sprite sheet that isn't programmer art or anything

(Okay, so programmer art, but still.)

Err... how about screenshots?

Why not!

an incredibly high-resolution screenshot of a beautiful video game

This is a test of the NavMesh system, and I don't care if that means nothing to you, this is the greatest thing I've ever done in my life.

Downloads?

Nope! There probably will be, though, once I have anything worth showing.

So what have you actually made so far?

Hella backend work, son! I'm doing my best to make making adventures super simple, like having you use YAML instead of XML, keeping the native scripting language (obviously called PonyScript) really easy to use, and so on. Also, since I assume many people out there are like me and want to write pony adventures without having to make artwork, sounds, and music, I've made a "package" system, where artists can release "packages" of art, and then adventures can use the packages. My hope is to have a sort of social website thing that ties into this, where you can download new packages and adventures and what have you.

Read more about this sort of thing here.

Who's responsible for this crap?

Adam "takua108" Rezich is the only one working on the project at the moment, but if you have any experience with C#/XNA, adventure games, and ponies, help is welcome!

Well this has been a waste of my time to read this far

Yeah... sorry about that.

Was this really the best website you could muster?

Nah, not really, but I felt like putting only minimal effort into this one for some reason. I can do better when I want to; see?
